A vertical cartoning machine is a device that forms, fills and seals cartons in a vertical orientation. The machine can handle various types of cartons, such as open-top, closed-top, or gable-top, as well as different sizes and shapes.

The basic steps of the vertical cartoning process are as follows:

– The machine receives a continuous roll of carton material, which is cut into individual blanks by a rotary cutter.

– The blanks are transferred to a forming station, where they are folded and glued using hot melt adhesive or cold glue. The formed cartons are then moved to a filling station by a conveyor belt or a star wheel.

– The filling station consists of a product hopper, a dosing system, and a filling nozzle. The dosing system can be volumetric, gravimetric, or by weight, depending on the product type and the accuracy required. The filling nozzle can be fixed or movable, and it can fill the cartons from the top, the bottom, or the side. The product can be liquid, solid, granular, or powder, and it can be filled in single or multiple doses.

– The filled cartons are then transported to a sealing station, where they are closed and sealed by heat, pressure, or glue. The sealing method depends on the carton style and the product characteristics. The sealed cartons are then ejected from the machine and conveyed to the next stage of the packaging line, such as a bundler, a shrink wrapper, or a case packer.

A vertical cartoning machine offers several advantages:

– It can handle a wide range of carton sizes and shapes, as well as products with different physical properties.

– It can achieve high speeds and lower costs, as it requires less carton material and less floor space.

– It can provide better product protection and presentation, as the cartons are filled and sealed in a vertical position, preventing product spillage and ensuring uniform distribution.
